Welcome to Red Rose Olympic CC

Red Rose Olympic CC is a growing family based club catering for all ages and cycling interests and UK British Cycling qualified coaches.

MTB is Here!

Last weekend saw us out on our MTBs on Saturday and on Sunday!

On Saturday morning we had an MTB specific coaching session and we worked on balance, cornering, track standing and front wheel lifts. There was a mix of ages and abilities but every rider was challenged to develop their skills. Thanks to Jack and Jez for delivering the session.

We are going to be running similar sessions during March so keep an eye out for news.

On Sunday we put our skills to the test around the Red and Blue routes at Gisburn with eight riders braving the elements.

BMX fun coaching

Our friends at Preston Pirates have invited us down to try out BMX - so lets get down there and see what it is all aout!

The session will run from 10am till 11am on Saturday 25th February and they will lend us bikes and helmets.

It would be great to meet up with Lilly, Rhys, Aidan and Oscar and try out something new, I will be riding there so hope to meet up on the day.

MTB is coming!

Have a look in the events section to see the upcoming MTB events we have coming up.

We are hoping to run regular coaching sessions on Saturday mornings before our road sessions start.

The sessions will be based on building skills and confidence whilst having fun and getting a work out at the same time.

Good race face Becky, loving the Red Rose kit!

MTB Skills Session

Three of our Red Rose Riders ventured out in the woods today to take part in a coaching session with Dave Lawson from Bury Clarion, the session was based on building skills and decision making that can be used out on the trail or in a race setting.

The riders looked at taking different lines through rooty sections and were working on moving their weight around the bike. All the riders improved their flow as they attempted the section a number of times and looked at how the different line choices affected their speed through the section.

No shortage of mud at Ilkley

A couple of brave Red Rose riders faced the Yorkshire winter weather at the Ilkley cyclocross race.

It was a challenging course with steep climbs and run ups in the woods and twisty flat sections.

It was raining early on which meant the ground was very wet for the youth race, but by the vets race the course was covered in very thick sticky mud. Grip was hard to find even on the flat sections!

Thanks to Ilkley CC for hosting the event.

Heaton Park and Bebington Oval Cyclocross race reports

We had a great turnout for a great race at Heaton Park. The youth riders rode in the rain which gradually cleared and by the time of the vets/womens race it could be described as a nice day - Pete, who was unfit to race, was marshalling and shouted encouragement to the Red Rose riders while eating his sandwiches.
