Hoghton Tower Cyclocross Race Report

Saturday saw the opening race of the 2017 NWCCA league at Hoghton Tower, and it did not disappoint with 400 riders across all the age categories taking part. The course was challenging made all the trickier by the occasional downpour.

We couldn't make use of the lawns in front of the house this year due to the conditions, but the alternative courses worked well and we appreciated everyone's efforts to keep off.

Red Rose Olympic were well represented with riders in the all the races. Some of our riders were taking part in their first ever race and had a great day so well done to everyone, but a special mention to Pheobe gaining 2nd place U10 girls, Katie 2nd in the U8 girls.

Thanks must go to the Red Rose Olympic members for their hard work in putting the day on and all the other volunteers - without them the day could not happen.

The results and more photos are available on the NWCCA results page. Sean Cull took some great photos. Photos on this page are from Mike Lees, Caroline Humphreys and Sean Cull.

There's no racing next week but everyone is welcome to attend the Red Rose cyclocross coaching session on Saturday morning.
